Most of the buildings were partly insured: the

Heirith L & F. Burgess' toes is $40,000, insured
for,s2ooo; H. N. Gates' loss is large; he has no.
Ingurance.! The principal Sufferers were par- i
dolly insured. . . -
Doring the fire there were four explosions of 1
powder. liqUore and turpentine. The first crea
ted a panic. At ono time the wind Suddenly
changed to the North when the fire was raging in
the rear of the New England Hotel. In every
room were pereons removing "property when too
aosoke suddenly filled all parts of the building so
densely that it was with great difficulty the in-.
mates escaped.
- This is the most destr. active fire that has ever
occurred in Cleveland. • •

and segued by. Messrs. Mahon and Hasbrouck.

ent, but Mr. Hasbrouck, counsel for Skyles, ar

ding too was really excellent, and the grace and
skill with which she rode, attracted the largest
, possibto amount of admiratiOn. She took the
first premium in her class for riding: Lawrence
county is coming out; it.took the first Premium
for horsemanship.

Burrato, Oct. 28.—An accident occurred on
the Great Western Railroad, Which was occa
sioned by the bursting of the bead of the cylin
der of theengine, which threw the -train out of
time. After a delay f two hours it proceeded
near Chatham. A dense fo 7preralliwg it came
in collision with the gravel g
train. The locoino
tive of the-Express was overturned,? crushing I
the fast land second clais ears tameit entirely.
The persons In the second class ear veer° eith
er killed or wounded, there being in riff 25 men,
11 women, and .11 children. Twenty-one men
were killed, and twenty women severely injured,
-one-half ; of the latter probably fatally. They
were - mainly emigrants.
Later accounts state -that 98 persons were kil
led, aid two wounded, who hare since died.
New lons, Oct- 27.—A fictitioas Bank, pre
tending to have an agency in this city, called the
