Saltaburg, Indiana County, on the. 2d Mit:,
charged with stealing A valuable rifle belonging
to Jacob Fennel, of Loyalhanna - township, Wept
moreland county. It appears that in the abseil&
of Fennel and his family from home on the 118th
of September, Joseph broke open the house. took •
the ride and made his way to Indiana. Intelli
gence was rent to officer David Black, of -Salts
burg, who, with the aid of officer Drury, of the
same borough, succeeded, after considerable
search, and a desperate struggle - with Ward (the
latter attempting to sheet them) in arresting
him: He was taken before'Esquire Henderson;
and after an examination received a pasi to
West:no:inland, and there got a commit; from
William Barnard Esquire, of Loyelbanna town
ship, to,our county jail, where he arrived last
night in custody Of three officers; and was doliv
erod over to the jailer for safe keephiguntil dis

val of the Nautilus with Brownsville dates to the
16th. The Revolutionists cf Northern Mexico
are progressing having obtained possession. of
several towns, including Monterey. The goV
ernment troops are unable to checkthem; Lena
; res, Monte Mordas and Calayta are also taken.
The government troops that captured Victoria - it
is said burnt a number of houses and committed
great excesses. The insurgents are very eon
gains; they have divided into parties and have
commenced a system of guerrilla warfare.
Indian depredations are numerous on the
American side of the Rio Grande. Capt. Lew
, ellen Jones, with a party of ten riflemen pursued
and defeated a party of fifteen, killing one and
wounding three, and taking seven horses and
other plunder. Jones lost one corporal killed
'and two privates wounded; four horses were al
so wounded.

Revolutionists to take Monterey was unsuccessful
and denies the statement of the success of the
Revolutionists in Northern Mexico. It also dis
tinctly announces that the Revolution is at an
end.
PUILADELPMA, Oct. 4.—H. Risteubatt, of Leb
anon Penna., was robbed of $4,600 in the Balti
more cars yesterday, chiefly of $lOO bills on the
bank of Lebanon! Lancaster and Harrisburg.
