15.1121D.— , -The School Directors of the First Ward
were muted on Saturday, on= attachment for
contempt of Court. They were taken before
Judge Hampton. or the District Court, when the
case was disposed of u follows.: -
Sometime since& writ was issued ordering the
defendants to pay the amount of this judgment
"speedily, and 'without delay out of any money
now in the treasury, or if there was none in the
treasury to pay it out of the first many reCcived in
to the treasury." JudgaShider asked that defen
dants be committed. 3lr. Shinn stated that at the
time of issuing this writ there was no money in
the treasury, and the parties had bad no oppor
-
tufty .of answering the exigency of the origi
nal writ. He claimed that the attachment should
9 be quashed, until they had en opportunity to an
swer the second branch of the writ.' He demand
ed that they should have an opportunity to purge
themselves of any intentional disrespect to the
Court. ife also alleged that the defendants
bad a right to have an opportunity to have their
answer drawn up, and he asked that the writ
might be dismissed to give them this oppor
'tonity.- Judge Shafer said that they could an
swor_ now, or else they - ought to be committed.—
They were here in court now—let them purge
themselves if they can. • •
Judge Hampton said they had a right to purge
themselves of the contempt. Let them put in
their answer in'irriting, and the opposite Frirty
. 1 to have the privilege of cross questioning if they'
were not satisfied. The only question in the
mind of the court was the time of answering
Mr. Shinn naked till .Mondsiy morning, and it
woe finally fixed for Tuesday morning at U o'clock.
Meantime the parties are n custody of the
Sheriff.
