- Secret Politient associations are still more ob

countries, where the people are sot permitted to
meet together to d iscuss , their grievancs, and
where the rigid of revolution is the only right
left them, such associations may be justified; but
in a country where the right of speech and of

Secret political associations are notiatdigenous
to the soil of frecdpm. They are the natural
offshooti of the most dangerous forms of tyran

Russia, the fesnit Societyorßomanisca and the
terrible engine of the Secret confessiobal are
specimens of those dark and dreaded forms of
tyranny:which:ought to make American:citizens

ever possessed of the character of an American
citizen whose proud boot always has lacEn that

We make these remarks. novi - because there is
growing tendency to enter into secret•nssocia

half 'dozen different secret associations for , ined,
having different objects in view. Whatever may
be the of jeCt of these associations, however good,

A great many tirguntents suggest themselves
to us in opposition to all such - organizations, but
we haSitsaid enough:we trust to =MC any of our
readers to hesitate; who may have been tempted
by curiosity or any other motive to unite with
any, of these secret :ptilitical organizations. If so,
