By this time Mr. Liggett and 1 , the -confidence

were then in .the. cattle yard on the corner of

strange to say, Mr. Liggett was so influenced
by the young man's plausible story, that he re

on his cheek for $330, which be handed to the
farmer, in paymentlfor the stock. It was ar

go to the yard, together, 4nd aftersards meet

at the earliest practicable period. The Afri
canisation of that Island will interfere with the
domestic institutions of the' South. Spain must
yield, and France and England must submit. If
Spain refuses a liberal compensation she must
take the conselquences. It is our necessity which
demands that she shall-make the !sacrifice which
will redound to our prosperity and safety, and
to the happiness of the hufnan fatally. We
should take measures for the acquisition without

Greta Excitement in Brooklyn.
NEW Yonx, Juno 10.
Great excitement prevails in Brooklyn in con
sequence of the discovery of loaded muskets at
a late hour. on Friday night. Some Brooklyn
police having been. informed that fire-arms were
secreted in a home on Main Street, near Catha
rine Ferry, procured a warrant and entering the
house discovered several muskets heavily loaded
with shot. The occupant of the house, an Irish
man, was arrested. lie admitted that' muskets
were privately conveyed to hie house for the
purpose of self-preserrution, as he expected
that an attempt would be made to tear his house
down to-morrow - by the Know Nothings. A
good deal of excitement prevails is that part of
Brooklyn today, as it is thought more fire-arms
ore concealed.
