Perry, on suspicion of being a slaver, and sent
home for trial. Her. captain; Casper Kehnitann
—a native of Bremen, buts citizen of the United
States=the first Officer, and two seamen were
taken in custody by lite United States. Marshall
and lodged in lail. • ' -. •
When first ,seen by the Perry, the GlaMorgan
was supposed to be an English man-of-war brig,
and the Perry bore down to speak her. - Pind=
ing that she refused to recognise the signal
made by Capt. Page of the Perry, suspicions
were aroused, and all arid' Wei!madeon 'board
the latter to overtake her. At night; ettfdding

A calm succeeding and the" Perry being almest
motionless,-Lieut. Downey was ordered to chaise
her iota boat. Taking five men with hire, well
armed, be started in pursuit,'the Perry following
as fast as the wind would permit, and after
long and hard pull, -got up with her, not, bre
ever, until a- ahot had been fired over the boat:
Lieut. Dolmas immediately boarded her, - eta
asked to look' at the" ship's papers,- which'were
found to be correct. He then ordered the hatches
to be taken off; which thicaptain Seemed unwill
ing to permit, and upon the commend:_being re
peated, the captain observed that he might as well
admit that the vessel had been fitted otit for a
slaving expedition. The Perry tame up and took
possesion of the brig. 'She had on boards large
quantity of water, farina, and the naval imple-
Meats of slave traffic. The Glamorgan is a fiat
sailing Baltimore clipper brig of 150 toris., has a
slaye deck, and is owned in New, York. There
was' on board a Portugese supercargo -with-two
slaves. These Capt. Page put on shore.' The
-two men are Portugese. District Atterneyllal
lett has taken the usual preliminary steps, and
the 11: . S. Marshal has arrested the accused slave
dealers, and will also take charge of the vessel:.
The preliminary examination will take place be=
fore U. S. Commissioner C. L.- Woodbury. •
