On the Bth of July Cochran was brought be fore Judge Forward, on a writ of habeas corpus, and his release on ball demanded. IV. IV: Irwin, Esq., appeared for the prisoner. The motion was overruled. On the Bth of December, November term of Oyer and Terminer, 1852, Jewell was placed on trial for the crime, Judge 111.`Cloro on the Bench. Messrs. Darragh, Skater. Umbstaetter and Stan ton, among the most celebrated lawyers in West ern Pennsylvania - appeared for the prisoner. The trial occupied two days and nights, and was conducted with consummate skill by the at terniee for the defendants. Their speeches will long 'be remembered for their tattling clo •quente.
