riIKNNTLTANIA RAILIIO/111—IMPORTANTCHANelg.
I —The traveling public will perceive, on examin-
I lug the advertisement of the Pennsylvania Rail
road, that the Mail Train, and the Accorninoda
tion Train will not hereafter run on Sunday.—
Both will leave every day except Sunday. The
Express Train will leave every evening at half
past nine o'clock. Passengers arriving here on
Saturday evening can spend the Sabbath, and go
on in the evening after claundi hours.
We are much gratified with this grus.t improve
ment,' and beg leave to express our thanks Ls
`the Directors for thus yielding to the moral
sense of the community. It his always been a
disagreeable reflection that the stockholders de
cided in favor of Sunday travel, and we rejoice
that the Directors have quietly made a large
Ltep in the right direction. We have no doubt
they will find it to the interest of the Company
to Continue it, and we trust they will soon abol
ish Sunday tfivel altogether. There has been
a rapid improvement in this respect of late, all over
the country, and we confidently look for the time
not far off, when tint one train will be run on
Sunday in the United States. What a glory
this would he for our nation!
Tuu FtRST MEM:tilt TRAIN.—ThiS evening
the first passenger train on the eastern road,
through the tunnel, avoiding all the inclined
planes, will leave this city nt half past 9 o'clock.
No doubt many of our citizens will embrace this
opportunity of visiting the East. It will he
something to think of and talk about to he on
the fit passenger train through and over the
Allegheny Mountains. It 10, indeed, a' 'grew
event, and ought to have a fitting celebration

against it. Also, a remonstrance from Councils,
against the Butchers' Market Association.
A number of petitions is favor of the new

On motion of Mr. Donde, a-bill to provide for

propriates $20,500.
The Prohibitory Liquor bill came up in order
on second' reading, Mr. Crabb's motion to post
pone for the present pending.
Mr. Crahb and Mr. Buckalew briefly urged the
postponement, on the ground chiefly that there
was no wisdom nor propriety in discussing a bill
of similarcharacte.r in both llou.ses at the same
time. They proposed to wait till the House bill
had been finally acted upon. •
Mr. Slifer and Mr. Runk - el opposed the post
pouement. They could see no reason for regu
lating the action of the Senate by the move
ments of the House on this position. Resides

The sections to the eighth were then consider- !

eighth section being- read, antborizing a Hanna

Mr..Priee read a written spe!eit in opposition '
to the principle of the
„section. Ile regarded it
as a violation of the rights of citizens, outran-
teed by the. Constitution, and t..oukt not give it
his sanction.
Mr., Kunkel replied to some of Gm objections
of the Senator, of a general character.
- Mr. Theater opposed the section, agreeing with
the Senator from the city—Mr. .Pricr—that it
was an infringement of private rights that could
not be justified. He still bad the floor when the

TIIE FOREICN Vorc.—The foreign Vote, through
the demagoguism of the Demucratio party, has
hitherto contributed immensely to its success,
and through the success of that party, Lt
has
been made instnnuenlal in inkling tothe strength
and insolence of slavery. As a meet return for
this help received from the votes of naturalized
immigrants, who are mostly workingmen and
mechanics, a South Carolina politician proposes
tudeprive the workingmen of the country of the
benefits of education; and now the Baltimore
Times, a paper established purposely to defend
the slave interest, boldly advocates the abroga
tion of the naturalization laws, and the exclusion
of naturalized foreigners front office. Thin is
the reward given to German and Irish democrats
for their services in upholding and defending
slavery, through' the instrumentality of the
Democratic party.
