several meetings of the miners. The meetings
resolved that they would not sign , the leases. and
that they would not go to work until the diffionl

was taken on the question whether Jack Beryy
ebould continue to work, but one or two of the
meeting voted In the affirmetive. The equestion
was decided In the negative.
I saw the Committee coming on the railroad
with Berry; I asked them what they were doing
with Berry; they said to me, "you look out,"
Berg was complaining that his tools had been
broken.
Frederick Miller elfollll—neard the speeches
at rose of the meetings; the plaintiff and some
others went to the door of Stinger's bowie; one
of Morrison's workmen holdup a paper and call

ASSAULT AID BA/TEM.-4. man named Andrew
Helloes appeared before Alderman Parkinson
yesterday, and made oath against Sergeant Bar
net, of the Itendesvons tar assault'end battery.
It appears that Burnet 'eroded the complainant
and platted him in confinement, supposing he
was a deserter from the army. He released
him open learning the contrary., Vale ehitsed
the suit Burnet was arrested and held to bail
to answer the charge.
