in relation to the present' condition of Mexican
araini: it !
From a gentleman' who came paassiger on the
steamer Texas from Vera Crux, and who has ex
cellent sources of information concerning eke
real state of political affairs in Mexico, we learn
is mambar of interesting facts on the subject,
width confirm what we published some weeks
eines.
ft. would appear that the intelligent portion of
the. population of Mezieo have MOO to the con

of the country, united for once, oppose the ' , Ns,

thwarting him as fir as possible in every tactile
—venturing to the brink of thepreolpice, bat not
no fer as to slip in. ' Nothing but the onion of all
parties could save the country, and reami It
from its piesent death of degradation; and this
union is entirelywenttng.
',lonspiraoles abound, and every men of more
or lees note is thought to be implicated in them.
Santa Anna is evidently on the watch for nth
attempts, and meets them by decrees of banish
ment to the interior, or complete exile. A few
days before ear Informant left the city of Meal
oo, a univeresi sensation wee occasioned there
, in eohsagnence of several prominent persons
ing brought under these instruments of govern•
mental authority. Among them was Robles,
formerly Minister of War; Hero y Tamarix, who,
few weeks slue,- was Banta Anna's Minister
of the Treuurl; Monte Lierdo and Louis de In
Rosa, late Mexioass Minister rat Washington Clty.
Robles was banished to the interior; Tamara
was treated in tho santitaanner; Rou was or
dered to strut from the pity in forty-eight hours;
and Lterdo wu sent off in another direction.
This affair bed Untruly blown over ere a more
formidable conspiracy was announced to have
been discovered, haying raudfloations all over the
Republic, and oontaing any number of pergolas
among its members. . Furlong, the prevent Gov
and of Puebla, . Moglea, the late Omega?,
were arrested se being essimentdi in the plot,
and were ansigned before a military tribunal.
The Yiscel, desired to proceed- capitally against
them, and the general impression was that they
would be cadenced The report was also that
these were not the chiefs d the etonspirsoy, but
that the leaders would coon be discovered. The
two prisoners ware sent to Vera Cone, and It was
thought would be banished from the country.
From what our inforilitat told ue, the whole
of Mexico is one vast neat of conspirator,. Thi
chiefs are not yetlatown, nor does it seem pear. ;
able they will be,- at leset for some time to come.
- Banta. Anna spiders to rely for Ala supreme°,
- on the faot that the opposition Is made up prin. ,
eipally of lawyer, who hare none among them '
bold enough to proo'aim himself their leader
and take decisive /taps agaitua the Government:l
• However, our informant states that the army 1
of 12,000 which Banta Anna Nut under arms is
not to be depended - on by him for a day. That
le the most startling feet of all, that is to be .
placed to his disadvantage In e glance" at hie
probable-retard. Certainly, we eboold think, -it
any portion of the Mexican population be duo ,
fed to Gaeta Anna; It is the eoldidy. Under
him they- aro all powerful; but it would seem
now that they only wait the advent of .a new
1 1 giblet to desert their . etendards. Yet he does not
seam to apprehend soy, danger worth fearing.—
Thhimay be soortented - for by the statement of
our informant, that Banta Anna has lost nearly
all„.hla farmer energy; that he is hay and care ,
lose, and leaves the direction of-hls offstra to hie
Ministers. ; - -
