Our readers will naturally lugedes what this
Li all about. We will try and enlighten them
as far is thou power.
The fast complaint is, "the nastsfal expendi
ture of money in the Construction of the road."
It Is very easy for any one to Sad haat, but it
might be rather difficult for him to give a reason
for his opinion. - We know the Directors and
officers of the Company to be able and prudent
men; end withal honest men. They may have
made mistakes, for aught we know, but as they,
have labored most earnestly to_secure this great
work, and under a manntalnif difficulties, and
without peanniuy profit, we think they should
receive the gratitude of the people, Instead of
becoming the bite of prriadiced fault linden.—
There has been no wilful lusts of moneyin the
construction of the road, and It would be rather ,
Moult for these complainants to 00121i1:11311 any
body that they could have done any better. •
The @mond 'charge Is, the personal speculation
of individuals of the board to the lojiiry of the .
road.. Here is another charge without proof,
and we dismiss it as unworthy of the meeting
AM& made it, and unworthy of farther
notion.. If any of the untlemea of character
who took parkin the mouldings of the meeting,
are ready to Dark the statement, and to produce
'Uldencivist them careefoiesrd. Every hones!
man will despise such assaults in the dark.

titer naked, unrabstautisted charge, to abide
we give a moot emphatic denial, on the author-

The cones of ell this 'indignation-sad unjust
crimination, are pretty clearly hinted at in tim
