• seramened yesterday morning, to hold an in.
goat upon the bad, of Renard Greek, a Ger
man, who had been engaged in Messrs, Jamee
Lowe & Co'a lookiag.glass frame factory, on Do

came to his death In the following manner: The

He, with two or three others r were arrested and
tried last term, which reealted in the acquittal
of tiro, but the jury not being able to agree, he
was remanded to prison, where he remained on
.HI the present trial. The various eircumstances
ware explained, yesterday, and after occupying
the attention of court nearly all day, the jury
returned a verdict of acquittal.
Samuel Keys ea. Henry Reis, information,
surety, of the Peace. On April the 6th, Keys
had a similar cult against the same person, which
milted in the imposition of a flue and costs on
defendant, and at Its conolneion proceeded to
Wood street, where he met Hein, Who immedi
ately struck him several blows. The defendant
plead entity, and after reoeiviag a warning from
Judge McClure; that if he were ever brought
before him again on a eimUar charge, he would
impose the heaviest penalty of the law, fined
him ten dollars and the costa of Court,
Two or three cues, which were very trifling,
were disposed or

gheny Councils, on Thursday evening, the citi
zens of the Fourth ;Ward presented a petition
for the division of that Ward into another.—

Mr. Meagher delivered three lectures tie the
-Amphitheatre in Mobile, which was crowded
-every night. Just before his departure, he was
entertained at a liplendid dinner, given to him
by a number of the leading citizens. • He is now
in this city, where he was very cordially receiv
ed. He is stopping at the St Charles. Oa Sun
day, he dined at Carrolton, with the Emmett
Guards, in company with Oen. Augustine, and a
number of distinguished military men.
Oa Tuesday night he gave hie first lecture on •
Australia, at Odd Fellow'. Hall. The Loose was
densely crowded,Zind his reception most enthu
siastic. It is announced that he will give an
other lecture at an early date.
