,The Convention ham jest adjourned until six
o'ldock, after a very interesting session, in which
the preliminary Merl towards a platform wcro
had. - The committee on credentials was not
prepared to report, and after the adoption of
rules for the Convention, Mr. lioness of Louisi
ana, offered a series of reaolutions.:-1. That a
committee of .one from each State be appointed
to draft &platform. 2 That the delegation from
each State appoint their own committee moo,
and 8. That the Convention would not proceed
to ballot for President- until the committee re . -
ported. An!artimateci debate- arose when the
rote was taken on the first resolution, - and Uwe
earrried by a large majority_ The nays were
generally Scott men. An amendment was offer

committee, io coating their vote' in coin.

as the State was entitled to to the electoral re!.
/e/p. The States were celled, nod the vote was
anion:semi to be 150 yeaa to 143 nays. This
was received with load cheers - by the Scott men.
14mbetitste was then offered by the opposition;
for the resolution as amended, during ibe pen
deneyof which theVonventionadjourned.
As mitten, now look platform will be adopt

allies are found .In the Webster men of

It to pretty "trident that the South mica--

There are various reasons why dila project

firm and most obvious is that it would give us

A vlgoreus stroke on the part of the friends of
