This was an action of ejectment, brought for
a lot of ground, No. 13, an J. & A. Petterson's
plan of lots in Allegheny city. The defendant,
by an article of agreement bearing date the 28th
of August, 1850, had covenanted to convey the
lot, in consideration of $3OO, which. the plain
tiff contended was to be paid tor by his labor,
and proved a tender thereof. The follosing is

Prevident.
The President read a communication from P.
F. Johnston, President of the Allegheny Rail
road Cowpony, requesting a' subscription of
S 400 : 0 00 -one-half thereof payable in the bonds
of the city and balance by a transfer of any
stocks hold by the city In other Railroad Co.•e,
as per tarots of act of Legislature; and the
Company agreeing to the payment of iutereet
on any subscription made to its stock.
On motion - of Mr. Shore the communication
wan referred to a Special Committee of fire—
three from the C. C., and two from S. C.; and
Messrs. Shore, Bisset and M'Attley appointed on

Essays.—Tho Chair submitted 'report of the
Secretary of the Navy in reply to a resolution
calling for information in respect to elfeged Il
legal allowances to naval officers.
Mr. Hale said the report was in answer to
revelations introduced by him. He had read
the answer of the Secretary of the Navy, and
was happy to say that there vas no foundation
for the charge that nab an abaft &rioted.

drews, of Maine, and submitting resolution&
The resolutions were taken up, nod Mr. Hamb
lin made a short speech, after which the :senate
adjourned.
Mon.—Mr. McDonald . announced the death
of his collesgue, the Hoe. Charles Andrews, of
Maine, which took pleat at his residence, at
Paris Hill, surrounded by his friends. The usu
al resolutions were adopted, and it high eulogium
delivered by Mr. McDonald, after which the
House adjourned.

The western papers contain accounts of great
destroction of property by the storm. last Fri-
day. The town of Leavenworth, Ind., was near
ly destroyed; forty houses were blown down,
some of them substantial brick buildings, with
18 Inch walla. • Two or three persons were killed
and a number badly injured. In various other
places houses, fences and orchards of valuable
fruit trees were destroyed.
