Friends of Hungary . , composed lusively of
bol e s.. We are free to confess that the idea of
women racing off to Hungarian meetings,lmak-
Mg war-like speeches, passing interiention re
solutions,-and otherwise assuming the privileges
of the sterner sex, to the manifest neglect of
their household duties, is extremely repel:sire
to us, and we find it very difficult with our old
notions of propriety and womanly 'modesty to
associate the idea of such p creature, with that
of a pure, loving, confiding woman. We donot
know 'who may be Interested in this Pittsburgh
movement, nor do we care. Their motives may
be &sincere sympathy for Hungary, or a mor
bid desire for 'notoriety, they rill succeed to
their heart's cqntent.' We copy the call for the
meeting froat . tho Pittsburgh Graeae, and only
regret that a piper as respectable should have
eo prostituted its columns :

and Hodge to Long, complaining of the horror
of seeing one's self in socialistic type. Next' .

Lag a wish to drop him like a hot potato. The

giving a history of hisinterview with the Magyar,

Freedom in which he found the Hungarian.—
Then comes a letter from Hodge to Bleck Dan,
-written in bad grammar and worse taste, and
to crown all, bewitched by the Telrgraph. The

I perceive by the Journal of Saturday that
our neighbors at Vrellsville are disposed to ter
rify us a little, withi, the ]repo of seeping our
aid to the. entensirrnirof their. rhel front Wells
ville to intersect 'the Pennsylvania and Ohio
road at Rochester. ' For this purpose the Wells
ville Patriot exhibits - two projects for the exten
sion of their road to Wheeling or Bridgeport.
One of these projects may be adopted; whether
it will be the route down the west side of the
Ohio river to Bridgeport, er down the opposite
side of that river to Wheeling, I know not. tint
in oiler case I wish to suggest to our neighbors
that it would be very foolish to take Wellsville
otitheroute from Cleveland to Baltimore: Their
railroad strikes the Ohio about Tour miles below
Welbriille at the mouth of Yellow Creek. -So
that if the read is to TM down that side of the
1 river, the.main road - would peas straight down
to Susuanville, and the Wellsville people could
have the use of their four miles as a very con
venient
side gut.. On the other hand, the road
is to pass down the Virginia side ; the proper
place for crossing the river-will be at the mouth
of Yellow - .Creek. The road there is high
above the river and descends towards Wellsville,
and the bank on the other side of the Ohio is
also high, end surely there would he.. no sense
oreconowy in running up four miles on ono side
of the Ohio for the mere pleasure of running_
down four miles on the other tide,
I repent, then, if there is to be a road from
Cleveland to Wheeling or Bridgeport, that most
he the mainline, oak - Wellsville will have the
benefit of the side cut, and whether the main
Line goes down the Virginia on the other tide
of the river, we can tap it at such point sa we
- may hereafter think best. There is certainly
nothing very alarming to -Pittsburgh. In the
project of the Wellsville, Patriot. Indeed I think
w e may safely promise that if there iv once a
railroad eirendhig; - from Welteiilic to hl heeling
- or Bridgeport; rafter, Vrillsoon he found to com
plete the !eirenmbendibrue by extending a road
from Rochester to Wellsville. ;
Go ahead, : Patriot-
