The steamer Daniel Webster arrived it noon
to-day with San Francisco ;dates to the 17th
January. She brings 121 pesiengers, and $ 7O . -
000 in gold dent on freight.
The Webster arrived at San Juan on the 00th
of January. The steamer U.. States oleo ar
rived-there on the same day, and left on tho fol
lowing day for Chagres.
The Webster left San Jean on the 6th of Feb
ruary, and brings the advicee brought down by
the Independence, which left San Francisco at
'4 o'clock, P. IL, on the lith. The passengers,
therefore, by the Webster, have been 20 slays
and 19 hours between San Francisco and New
York. She passed, en the 6111 of February, an
English sloop of war bound' for Ilan Juan.
San Juan was healthy, but bossiness was dull,
the market being overstockld with all kind's of
goods.
The transit route was in excellent condition,
and no - passengere were welting at 6112 Juan for
passage to San Francisco.
A destructive Gra occnrpd at San Juan do
Nicarangua, on the night of the 9th, by which
one-third of the most populous part of the city
was destroyed. Among the buildings burned
was the United Stalls hotel, besides , a large
number of stores. The city wan not provided,
with engine'. Lieut. Armstrong, with a de•
inchment from the U. States sloop of war Al
bany, was present, and didlgood service with,
the WO: engines. Capt Wade, of the Eng
lish brig Express, was also present with his
men, and it was chiefly through the exertions of
these two forces that the fire woefully checked.
The shipment of gold from San Francisca by
the mail elicemer tolifiikaia, on the lfith,
as follows: To New Yilrk, $906,056; to New
Orleans, $30,999. The principal consignees
were Page, Bacon & Co. ' $654,000; Adams &
Co, $2:1,900. Davidson $112: Burgoyne &Co ,
$lO,OOO.

Francisco fer Panama on the 21st of January.
