meeting was to appoint delegates to!the Execu

A • Committce, consisting of Messrs. Barber,
Laneori, Lor'rriner, Albont, and Campbell,
were appointed to draft resolutions, who report
ed those of the City Councils, which were adopt
ed by the meeting. •

The President, at the request of the meeting,
delivered a forcible end eloquent address, after
which Messrs. Surber, Hallett and Alborn, were
chosen to represent the borough en the Execu
tive and Reception 'Committees, and Messrs.
Surber,
.Garriain, end Langdon, appointed a
Collecting Committee.
Addresses were delivered by Messrs. C. Peter
sou and J. D. itforcland, and a resolution that
the "proceedings be published in' all papers fa
vorable to the cause, adopted, after which the
matting adjourned.

On cross-examination, witness testified that
Hartline died on - Sunday morning about eight
o'clock; it was our intention to bury him in the
sumo grove yard with my brother's child; don't
know'whether my brother has black blood in
his veins; a man came there on Sattrrday even
ing, and Belted if there was a young man dead

came there to take the man's measure for a cof
fin or not; told him that we had gone to the ex
'penses of the burial already; did not toll the
young man to clear out; there was some re
marks passed, bet don't recollect them; don't
think be came into the house; the priest was
there on Friday, and said he would be 'back;
don't know if he wasthere on Saturday or not;
my brother and myself eat up with the deceased
on Friday night; Mr. O'Hara was there that ev
ening; don't think he eat up all night.
Ann Ray sworn—When they took the corpse
out of the house, to put it - in the hearse, there
was such a'screeching and screaming that 1 re
tired into the honer; did not eve any one struck;
don't know anv of the rioters; they wore halloo.

my son, said to O'Hara, that as he was the only
person who came to nee George before he died,
he would give him the body to• inter wherever
he'pleased, hut that he should give him notice
before 12 o'clock, O'Hara said he would let him
know; O'Hara hadtalcome back at three o'clock,
when 1 left the house.

had any particular place bedecked to be buried

! would like to be buried in a Catholic grave-yard;
he answered yes; Wilson said he would do as ho
desired; the corpse was in the coffin when I
went there next day.
Mrs. Eliza Albert, sworn—John Linimao,
Joseph . Thompson, Charles King and
took the coffin down into the street to put it in
the hearse; was about proceeding out, when I
beard a great noise' and 'uproar in the street;
two or three persoks fell on Mr. Greer soil
Black, and bent them for some time; could not
Bay whether I knew any of there, but James
Rice; they boat Greer and !Slack loan with urn

the carriers laid the coffin down on the street,
and went to assist the two men, who were being
beaten; while they were gone, the undertaker

any of them; they took it down the Fourth

and introduce him to the Holum: Messrs. Carter,
Clingman, Gentry, Stanton, of Kentucky, and

Mr. Carter, from the Select Committee, re
ported that they would he prepared to intro
duce Koesuth to the House at 1 o'clock.

Mr. Houston reported a bill for the payment
of the expenses of the Indian Department of in
valids, and other pensions for the year I 833; also
a bill providing for the payment of the next in
etalment to Mexico, under the treaty, all of
which were referred to Committee of the Wholh
on the state of the Union.
SXNATE- —The Chair laid before the Senate a
communication from the Navy Department, en
closing a memorial from tho seamen And petty
officers of the United States Squadron cto the
Pacific Coast, risking increased compensation.
Tho annual report of the Secretary of the
ireosury was also presented, and on motion of
Mr. Hunter, wus ordered to be printed, together
with lilB,ooo extra copies.
The resolution relative to Census Printing
was taken up and debated at lengtilt, bet finally

A message 'was received from the President,

The Clergymen of the District waited upon
Governor Kossuth at 111 o'clock to-day, and were
received by him with touch cordiality. The Rev.
R R. Gurley 41eliirered -an eloquent, and en.
ceedingly encoun4ing and appropriate address,
recognizing huseuth as a brother, and as a rep
resentative of a grout and cardinal religious
principle. They welcomed him to the city of
the great . Washington—to his Monument, ,and
almost in eight of his tomb, and urged hire to
speak out fearlessly and fully his thoughts to
the Nation. They assured him that they would
not be uttered in vain.
