reported in favor of printing 10,000 additional
Copies of the report of the Superintendent of
the Coast Survey, which was adopted.
Mr. Miller reported a bill giriug further rem
edies to patentees.
Mr. Cass called op his resolution requesting
information of the President relative to the late
outrage upon the steamer Prometheus, at Grey
town, Nicaraugus, by the British croon of war
Express. He said Ire knew nothing of the fame
in the case beyond the statement of the officers
of the Prometheus; and from that statement it
would seem that a gross outrage had been com
mitted upon the flag of the United States. Mr.
Cass spoke at notte length upon the duty of the
government to protect its flag every where, and
incidentally referred to, and strongly condemned
a proposition that had been entertained by
France and England of seareilihg Amerimu ves
