it will be admitted that these, with nails, mon-,

On account of the high Price or rent of the
land in England or Ireland, the hex straw can
not be purchased there for lees than slo®sls
per ton, while in this country it den be produced
for tits or sfl,.vast quantities being now thrown
away, the seed alone paying the flamer well for
the'crop. On this account, it is very probable
that flax-cotton goods can he produced cheaper
than cotton Aire, since it is admitted they can
not: be in England. it certainly deserves a trial,
and, since unmated dax-straw can be pro
duced here so much lower than it can be in Eng
land or Ireland, the probability is that we alone
may succeed with flax-cotton ; the British Islands
not being able to produce it as low. So we, and
not the British Islands, will be able to produce
linens. It will, however, take many years to
get up the necessary ftukchinery and build the
requisite number of factories here, to enable
the Baited Statexto expert - , iu place of her pm

its value in linen yarns and fabrics, with perhaps
flax-cotton tuitions for the English people. 'But
this moult is certain. It will be secured by our
