feuding, Spaniards by the snob, and the - failure

were on all sidee as mean as they were cowardly.
But the fact that the Spanish CODECII hid to take
refuge in a prison, is as alarming as it is dis
graceful. Is that citj about to follow the exam
ple of San Francisco, by tamely yielding up all
authority to the mob? If Ay, we are more likely

appalling not becaa*we are likely, nay, al
most certain, to have is :war with Spain--but

dition was done in open day. Every body
know their intention while preparing, and the
