Saturday evening, he was knocked down by a
hone and buggy, which came upon him ns he
was proceeding from the north to the poutli side
of the bridge al the Cambridge end of it. The
road was muddy, so that ho was unable to hear

such a rapid rate that when the occupants called
to him, just as they were upon him, he was un
able to escape. Two students of the Coll
were near by, and at once ran to the assistance
of Mr. Sparks, and after some time procured a
carriage, in.which he was conveyed to his house.
Dr. lYynnin , wa.s at once called, and no examina

ribs were broken, while his face, especially
about the eyes and forehead, was badly cut and
bruised. Ire, has elso,..gxperienced much pain
internally, hit it is hoped - 't he has received
no other inj4ies than thosewhich are at present
apparent It is obvious, however, that the blow
received was an exceedingly severe one. The
occupants tif•the buggy, although they must have
known that they had hurt_ some one, did not
deem it worth while to etop and inquire as to
the extent of the injuries their wantenties3 had

caused; but roceeded on, at a rate very much
faster thane s either safe or legal. :Late last
night Mr. Sp rks was quite comfortable, though
it is impossible for him 'to lie down at all.—
