There has been a struggle going on for the last four days-on this pretension: To Lilay, after a long discussion a resolution by Mr. Badger, on voting to themselies four thousand dollars in the shape of Congressional Globes, was laid on the table, 211 to 14. 'But to &matt r oot the influence of so correct and honest a pro needing upon the public mind—a resolution seas passed giving the secretary, clerk,. messengers, pager, watchmen, and other petty officeri in and about the Senate Chamber, two hundred and fif ty dollars a piece in addition to their regular pay for the session. Mr.. Clay, Clareird Dusk, and Mr. Atchison, were the principal chninpions for the boys, the two Indiana Senator 4, Bright and Whitcomb appeared for the country.
