highway robberies, committed in our city, but
on examination, they were all discharged.
Orrttaanocc—.Last night bonfires were kin

the great danger of property. The night watch
men do not come on duty till nine o'clock, and
the regular day police are good for nothing,—
We hope that there's a better time coming.
(.sacra r.—James Willidms and John Culbert
son, alias John Slubey, both colored men, were
yesterday committed to prison by Alderman
Major, charged with stealing a coat, hat, and
shawl from the house of Mr. Jonathan Rama

be stolen, were found in their possession, among

fifty dollars. Persona who have lost any thing
of the kind, should call at the Alderman's of

lli nun/a RODDEHlP.B.—llighway robberies are
now becoming alarmingly frequent. Scarcely a

turned a true bill fur assault and battery against
him, he having, by accident as he alleges, struck

cutting his face severely.
The Court wits naturally unwilling to try so

boys might, if possible, compromise the matter.
