Weddings
JONES-CRAWFORD.
A very unique homo wedding took
place yesterdny iifternoon nt tho lionio
of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Evan .Tones, CM North Hyde Park avc
nue, when their daughter, Miss May
Eleanor Jones, was united In marriage
to llev. William H. Crawford, of North
Stanford, N. V.
At 1 o'clock, to the strains of the
Mendelssohn wedding march, as played
by Mrs. Archie Jones, the bridal party
entered tho parlor,, which was beauti
fully trimmed with cut flowers and
palms, and tinder a canopy of llowers
they were met by llev. J. 11. Sweet, 13.
D presiding elder of the Blnghamton
district of tho Wyoming conference,
who performed the ceremony, Assisted
by llev. Hugh C. McDermolt, D. D., of
tho Simpson Methodist Episcopal
church.
Grouped In a semi-circle around the
brldu and groom were Hfteon young
ladles, dressed In white, all members
of Miss Jones' Sunday school class. Tho
effect was very pretty. The bride was
gowned In white Paris mousscllnc-de-solc,
trimmed with embroidery, and
iSaruled bridal roses of white.
Immediately after the ceremony a rc
reptlon was held, and later a wedding
dinner served. At 3,52, Rev. and Mrs.
Crawford left for North Sanford, where
a beautifully furnished home awaits
them. Tho brldo is very popular in
West Scranton, and It Is with deep re
gret that her numerous friends view
her departure. She was an active
worker In the Simpson Methodist Epis
copal church, being president of tho
Epworth league and having taught a
largo class of young ladles in the Sun
day school for several years.
Hew William Crawford Is also well
known, having lived here prior to his
entrance Into the ministry. He is a
graduate of the School of the Lacka
wanna and Drew Theological seminary.
They were tho recipients of many
beautiful tokens of the respect anil
friendship of numerous friends.
STANTON-NORTON.
A quiet church wedding took place
nt St. Patrick's church, Wednesday
morning at 11 o'clock, when Thomas
Norton, of the South Side, was united
in marriage to Miss Mary Stanton, of
North Ninth street, by Rev. J. P. Dunn.
Miss Nellie Duffy was maid of honor
while James Norton, brother of the
groom, was best man,
At the conclusion of the ceremony
lie bridal party Avere driven to the
' ome of the btido's parents where a
veddlng dinner was served. Mr. and
Mrs. Norton left via the Lackawanna
for an extended wedding trip to New
York and other large cities. Upon their
return they will reside on the South
Side.
DOLPH-XEWIS.
Miss Janet Lewis, daughter of Mrs,
'..ewis, of Warren street, North Scran
on, was united in the holy bonds of
aatrlmony with Arthur P. Dolph, at
5.30 yesterday afternoon. The cere
mony was performed by Rev. Tt. S.
Jones, pastor of tho West Market
"Street Welsh Congregational church, at
ihe home. In the presence of a few in
timate friends of the contracting par
ties. After the ceremony a wedding
supper was served by the bride's
mother.
Mr. and Mrs. Dolph left last evening
for Elmira, where they will make their
home.
JEFFERS-LAKE.
A pretty wedding was solemnized at
the Providence Presbyterian church
parsonage on Wednesday afternoon,
when Miss Anna Lake, of Green Ridge,
was married to Harry Jeffers, of Court
street. The ceremony was performed
by the Rev. George E. Guild, pastor of
the church.
The bride was attired In a blue trav
eling gown, and was unattended. Mr.
and Mrs. Jeffers left on an extended
wedding tour, and upon their return
will muko their home in North Scranton.
FRANEY-O'MAXLEY.
Anthony Franey, of this city, and
Miss Nora O'Malley, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Hugh O'Malley, of 1721 Jack
son street, were quietly married In El
mira, N. Y., on Wednesday, by the pas
tor of St. Patrick's Cathullo church In
that city.'
The couple slipped away on Wednes
day morning, unknown to but u few,
and returned on Wednesday night.
They will reside in West Scranton.
SMITH-FOWLER.
Mrs. Kuphemla J. Fowler, of 501 Now
street, and Allen Smith, of Dunmoro,
were united in marriage yesterday by
Rev. Dr. U. F. Y. Pierce, at the par
sonage of the Penn Avenue Raptlst
church on Mlfllln avenue. They were
attended by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Jackson.

Mrs. Smith will reside In Dunmore,

Several Hundred People.
Tho mere mention of the fact that tho
ladles of the Penn Avenuei Baptist
church will serve supper Is sutllcient to
attract as many patrons as they can
comfortably accommodate in two hours'
time In' tho church parlors.
Such was tho experience last evening,
when several hundred patrons were
served with a delectable menu, Half a
dozen tables were filled several times,
and the patrons were served by the
following ladles, who In one way or an
other contributed to tho success of the
event:

Knights of Columbus club house, and
was attended by a largo number of tho
graduates who reside In Lackawanna
county. The banquet service was by

Prof. James J. Powell, principal of
the Alooslc High school, is the presi
dent of the association, and made a
brief speech in Introducing Prof. Wil
liam E. Jamelsbn, principal of No. 17
school, as toastmnster. The speakers
