J5S WEST SCRANTON Funeral of the late Mrs. Mary D. Wilmore. . Michael Jordan Suffered a Paralytic Stroke Other News Notes. The funeral of tlio late Mrs. Mary D. Wilmore, who died Friday nfternomi nt the homo of her daughter, Mrs. John S. Loueks, of West Mountain, was held yesterday afternoon. At a o'clock, the friends gathered at the family home, on Chestnut slrcot, to pay their Inst tribute to (ho memory of a true friend nnd Christian. After brief services, the funeral cortege moved to the Wash burn Street Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was an active mem ber. Rev. "W. I. Steams, V. D., of Dan vllic, a former pnstor of that church, had charge of the services and In the most loving terms referred to her ex emplary Christian lite nnd Irreproach able character. The choir of the church, under the leadership of Prof. C. B. Derman, sweetly rendered "Saved by Grace," and "Some Time iWo'll Understand." The casket was buried beneath a wealth of beautiful flowers, sent by sorrowing friends and members of the nflllcted family. At the close of the services, the cor tege moved to the Forest Hill ceme tery, where the remains were laid at rest.' The pall bearers were 1,. A. Stevens, T. J. Luce, Prof. E. A. Crut tenden, R. J. "Williams Prof. D. A. Stone and E. P. Protheroc. t With the Alumni. The prospects of the Alumni foot ball team for the coming season are much brighter than they have ever been, and Scranton may now rest assured of having a strong team on the gridiron this fall. Benjamin Eynon, the man ager of the team, has begun the work of sending out challenges, and the Alumni team expect to play against the teams from the Stroudsburg State Nor mal, Bloomsburg State Normal, Wyo ming Seminary and Berwick. A strong effort will also be made to get the Cor nell and Lafayette college scrubs here, the latter for Thanksgiving, If possible. Athletic park his been secured by the Alumni and all games will be played there. Captain Sanford Phillips has the personnel of a fine team. John Jones, of South Everett avenue, who was arrested on Tuesday evening at the instance of his wife, charging him with assault and battery and threats, was given a hearing last even ing, before Alderman B. Davis. Mrs. Jones did not seem able to prove the charge of assault and battery, but gave evidence to prove the charge of making threats, which led the alder man to place her husband under $200 ball, and in default he was sent to the county Jail. Michael Jordan Paralyzed. Michael Jordan, who resides at 1021 Lafayette street, received a paralytic stroke last evening about 6.30 o'clock. The unfortunate man Is over SO years old, and the result is greatly to be feared, on account of his advanced age. Dr. Brennan and Dr. Raymond were called to give medical iad. GENERAL NEWS NOTES. The grand march, which took place at 9 o'clock, was led by Michael Wetter. Mary Maloney and her husband, Michael Maloney, weie arrested yes terday at the instance of William Eg gert, on ohurges of assault and bat tery and threats to kill. The case was the outcome of a scrimmage a few days ago, when Jits. Maloney had Eg gert arrested for assault and battery. Before Alderman Lentes they admitted striking Eggert under provocation, and were held for court, Mis. Maloney in $300 bail, and Mr. Maloney in $300. Martin Langan, of 317 Prospect ave nue, was arrested yesterday --on a charge of laiceny, preferred by Peter Allabach. The latter Is a watchman ,for the Rapid Transit company, and he testified that Langan stole a quantity of Iron belonging to the above com pany. Pie was unable to prove the charges, however, and Langan was dis charged by Alderman Lentes. Joseph Wlsnosky, of 1114 Piospect avenue, was given a hearing before Al derman Lentes last evening for assault and battery and threats, preferred by Constable Peter Marker.
