It Is presented for the first time by this
organization at popular prices. The
strength of the company, the excellence
of the specialties, and tho richness of the
costumes aro all factors which the man
agement wish to leave for a "first night"
approval.
Other cities have claimed that the pre

perfect ever attempted by a repertoire
company, as the productions are given en
tire. Miss Gertrude Shipman and Law
rence B. McGill are at the head of the
organization.

known vuudovlllo artists aro connected
wtlh the organization.
The company will remain at tho Star

By producing his "Alphonso and Gas

rangements to star Maude Adams as Ros
alind In "As You Like It" next season.
The first presentation takes placo next
September In New York, nnd a start hns
already been made upon tho scenery and
music of the piece.
Truly Shattuck was originally chils
tened "Etrulla." In England her nnmo
was tho subject of much characteristic
British humor, and tho London "Punch"
wont so far as to say that England might
get ready to welcomo torao American
star as "Sincerely Jones" and "Honestly
Smith."
As compared with tho condition of tho
actor two hundred years ago his present
status Is a marvelous example of social
development, but, ovon looked at In tho
light of tho comparatively recent past,
hla advnnco toward mora favorablo recog
nition Is strongly mnrked. In an address
to somo students In tho west during tho
last tour thoro Stuart Robson mentioned
how nt ono tlmo In his early stago career
ho was banished from a certain state bo
caiiHo ho wus a player. In Now Haven
ho was fined for not paying a llconse, nnd
not being able or unwilling nt tho mo
