Foiest City, May 5. The funeral of
Mrs. QeurBo Drain, who died Friday
morning, took place yesterday ufter
noon and was largely attended. The
services weie conducted by nov, I. h,
Chuk In tho Methodist church. She
was bom In tho Jsle of Wight In tho
Kugllbh channel in 1857, and hud i cabled
In this country about fifteen yeurs. Mrs,
Drain was a Methodist in faith and a
conscientious woman with many noble
traits. Interment was made in the Hill
side cemetery.
Tho public school exercises took place
lp tho Davis opcia liouso this afteinoon
and evening. Theie was a large audi
ence at both times, and tho young folks
caviled out tho piogramme very credit
ably. It was made up of choruses, mo
tion songs, a May-polo dance, dialogues,
etc, School closes tomorrow, and on
Wednesday tho commencement, exer

Hamltnton, May 5. Matilda, wife of
tho lato Thomas M. Tuttle, died very
suddenly at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Walter Simons, Wednesday, April
30. The funeral services were held In
the Salem Methodist Episcopal church,
Friday, May 1. Interment was made in
tho new Salem cemetery. She is sur
vived by one son, George, and one
daughter (Emma), Mrs. Walter Simons.
Mrs. Jemima Peet, relict of the late
Daniel Peet, died in Hnwley, May 2, at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. B.
Curtis, in her eighty-ninth year. De
ceased is survived by five sons, Abner,
Minot, John, George, Byron, and four
daughters (Abigail), Mrs. Mahlon
Christy, (Rebecca) Mrs. AV. B. Curtis,
(Harriet) Mrs. Tuiijer and Celesta. The
funeial services were held in the Salem
Methodist Episcopal church, Monday,
May i, interment In the old Salem ceme
terv. Among tho several visitors to the
Electric city during the past week were
B. F. Hamlin and family. Miss Kathryn
Edwards, C. L. Simons and Amos Olver.
Mis. C. B. Gale leturned to her home
in Seranton, May 3, after a ten days'
