A New Discovery, but Not n Patent
Medicine.
Dr. Redwell relates an Intercstlnff
account of what ho considers a re
markable case of neule stomach trou
ble and chronic dyspepsia by the uso
of the new discovery, Stuart's Dys
pepsia Tablets.
lie says: "The patient was a mnn
who had suffered, to my knowledge,
for years with dyspepsia. Everything
ho ate seemed to sour nnd create gases
In the stomach. He had pains like
rheumatism in tho back, shoulder
blades nnd limbs, fullness nnd distress
after eating, poor appetite and loss of
Mesh; tho heart became affected, caus
ing palpitation and sleeplessness at
night. v
"I gave him powerful nerve tonics
and blood remedies, bill to no purpose.
As nn experiment I llnally bought a
50-cent package of Stuart's Dyspepsia
Tablets at a drug store and gave them
to him. Almost Immediate relief was
given, and after he had used four
boxes he was to all appearances fully
cured.
"There was no more acidity or sour,
watery risings, no bloating after
meals, the appetite was vigorous and
ho has gained between 10 and 12
pounds in weight of solid, healthy
flesh.
"Although Stuart's 'Dyspepsia Tab
lets are advertised and sold In drug
stores, yet I consider them a most
valuable addition to (any physician's
line of remedies, as they aro perfectly
harmless and can be given to children
or Invalids or in any -ondition of the
stomach with perfect safety, being
harmless and containing nothing but
fruit and vegetable essences, pure pep
sin and Golden Seal.
"Without any question they are the
safest, most effective eyre for indiges
tion, biliousness, constipation and all
derangements of the stclmach, however
slight or severe."

New Engines That Are Being Re
ceived by tho Lackawanna Tho
Board for Today.
The Lackawanna has recently put
fntb uso ten new engines from the
ScliCuectndy shops, They are ninm
inbth uffalrs and are of tho best make
Jn'flio country. Their capacity Is hotter
,in every way and they can draw turgor
trains than tho old engines. An en
gineer said: "Tho Lackawanna simply
had to got the engines or bo behind the
times. Tho road has put on larger and
heavier coaches and, of course, lurger
engines were necessur, Tho now en
gines can pull nine coaches as easy as
the llitlo old engines could pull three,"
During the first four months of this
year the Lackawanna will receive from
builders slxty-llvo locomotives of vurl-
ous types for diffei -' finches of ser
vice. Late last yetfi -nty-nIno en
gines were received, so tint within six
months the LaokawannaTwill have re
ceived exactly one gros;,s of modern
locomotives a most valuable acquisi
tion to tho equipment rj" any railroad.
The new construction necessitated by
heavier engines and lor.ger trains on
the Lackawanna ra I trout furnishes
some interesting details rts to the im
provements made on that) road during
the last three years. In this time no
less than 30,000 tons of vails weighing
eighty pounds to the yard have been in
the track. This rouglUy equals 430
miles which have been rjelaid with new
rails. With this rail renewal work the
replacement of ties hafi been equally
energetic. A total of 1,1121,300 ties have
been laid in the last )three years, of
which 582,000 were put dfown in the year
just closed. Tho cost pf all this and
other betterment workperformed dur
ing 1901 was almost thrjee and one-halt
million dollars. Binglutmton Herald.
Must Patronize Us.
August Schulze, win imported sev
eral thousand- tons of Pennsylvania
anthracite coal, and who placed orders
for this product contingent upon the
opinion of the consumers, says the re
sult has been unsatisfactory, not owing
to the quality of tho coal, but because
the German householders do not know
how to burn it, their stoves not having
sufllclent draught for such hard coal.
Herr Schulze says that English an
thracite coal can be burned in smaller
quantities nnd at a lower draught. The
American coat makes more ashes, and,
consequently, requires t more shaking,
which the Germans neglect, thus re
tarding tho coal from burning.
However, Herr Schulze says that de
spite these obstacles Germany must, in
the future, depend upon tho United
States for her supply of anthracite,
since Great Britain scarcely produces
enough for her own consumption,
