assuming the appearance of a railroad
town. A large force of men Is em
ployed day and night. Two steam
shovels are used in preparing the site
for tlte new yard, which will consist of
llfteen tracks. The one fact to be la
mented Is I lie closing of the main road,
thus obliging the farmers to drive an
additional distance of nearly two miles
over rough roads enroute to market,
P,y early spring the tracks will be
bridged and the road again opened to
the public.
The teaeheis of Jefferson township
held a meeting at No. t school house
last Saturday morning. These meet
ings, In which I he teachers discuss va
rious subjects relating to school work,
will be held regularly and will take the
place of the former local Institute.
Itev. S. G. Haas is still conducting
meetings at I ted Oak school house.
