Thomas Thomas, until recently mine
foreman at the Twin shaft of the
Seneca Coal company, has accepted a
similar position at Delaware and Hud-
son mine No. 1, nt Jermyn, succeeding
Thomas Evan. Mr. Thomaa will as
sume his new duties next Monday and

The licensed hotel and saloon keepers
of Plttston have decided to take In
their own bands the matter of dealing
with speakeasy pioptlctots, and will
no longer leave the work to the offi
cers of the law. They have been en
abled to bring the matter to a satis
factory status thiough their oiganlza
tlon, the Retail Dealers' Protective as
sociation nf Plttston and vicinity. Re
cently they Issued an ultimatum to the
wholesale btewers that they would not
buy the ptodticlof any brewery selling
to speakeasies. The brewers have now
signed an agteement to do as the re
tailers inquest, and hac authorized
the latter to offer a lew aid of $10 for
Infot uiatlon that will convict any
brewer breaking the contract. The
ngi cement wiik signed by the Central
Pennsylvania Hrewlng company, repre
senting twelve blew cries; the Steg
inaler Hrewlng company and the Har
tcls company.
