President Nicholls and lleniy Col
lins, of Carboudalo, another member of
the judiciary board, returned Thurs
day from ilarrlsbuiK, where they have
cndeavoied to sueuie the passage of
the impoitalit mining legislation In the
hands of the senato committee on
mines nnd mining. Said Mr. Nicholls
yesterday:
"In accordance with their own
wishes, our men visited the operators
and presented their local grievances,
Among other things the miners of each
company asked for a uniform day wage
scale ul the collieries of their particu
lar company and this was iodised.
They asked that their companies llx a
uniform pi leu on nick work and this,
too, was lefuscd, (Hi none of these
