meeting and a committee was yester

the western dlstriel of Pennsylvania
will be hold in this city during the
week, and promptly at 10 o'clock this
morning the court will be opened by
t-'rler Snyder. Judge V. WViVchcson,
of the circuit court, and Judge Joseph
Paiflirigton of the district court, will bo
the presiding otilcers.
The oflleers of the court and grand
and petit Jurors arrived In tho city
yesterday, nnd last night thuie wore
registered at the Hotel Jerniyn Judges
Aelies'on and Uuffiiigton, United States
Attorney t. 1$. Hefner, of Armstrong
county: his assistants, D. M. Miller, of
Pitts-burg, and ,T. X. Inighum, of In
diana: I 'lilted Stales Marshal Fred r.
Leonard, of Cotter county: Clerk V.
T. Tjindsny, ot Pittsburg; Deputies J.
IT. Irons and J. V. Snyder, and a large
number of the jtn ors.
The session will be a short one nnd
by Thursday it is expected that all the
eihniiial eases will be disposed of.
Judge Acheson will today preside
over tho court room in which aie ar
gued tip? civil enses, while Judge Buf
IliiRton will be in charge of the crim
inal court. This is the hitter's Una I
appearance in tills city as a presiding
United States ofticer. as by the crea
tion of the new district Judge 11. W.
Archbald will take his place.
The trial list, which the court offi
cials brought with them, merely con
tains n numb?r of old indictments.
None of the new cases arc upon it.
There aie three new civil cases and
fourteen criminal proceedings, which
will be handled during tills week. Tho
case against Frank Jones, of this city,
N one of them. There aie two other
similar enses which will be pawed
upon, and three counterfeiting cases.
Poisons anested for complicity in two
rather trivial poslofllce robberies,
which occurred in this county, are also
slated to come up for trial. Theie are
three cases oC arrests made of persons
charged with a fraudulent use of the
mails, and a tiio of "moonshiniiiR" in
dictments. Marshal Leonard did not
bring a. ptlsoncr on with hint, all the
captives being out on ball, with tho
exception of one Bronn. incarcerated
