way at Lake Scianton and thus in
creasing the capacity of the Scrnnton
Has & "Water company's Mg reservoir,

day afternoon. I5y raising the spillway
IS Inches the outlet to the reservoir
was greatly diminished, and now the
totul capacity of i.ake Scrunton will
1)0 over one hundred million gallons
more than of yore.
A large derrick was first raised by'
the construction gang and then the ac
tual building work took place. A cop
ing four feet wide and eighteen Inches
thick was built upon the present spill
way, which extends one hundred feet.
Tho spillway of the reservoir at
the Williams bridge will also be raised
and this small supply of water's
capacity be likewise increased, yes
terday was spent in rearing a derrick
,ind work will bo begun Monday, in
all probability.
About Red Signals.
The attention of Lackawanna yard
men hns been called to a bulletin which
icfers to neglect in the observance of
ime or the rules set forth in time table
Xo. 4. This rules states that a red
Hag by day and a red light by night
displayed on or over or both ends of
an engine, car or train indicates that
workmen are under or about it. When
i bus protected it must not bo coupled
to or moved.
Workmen will display the red sig
nals and the same woikmen are alone
authorized to remove them, Other
ears must not be pluced on the same
tracks so as to intercept the view of
the red signals without first notifying
the woikmen.
Complaint has been made to division
headquarters that yardmen are vio
lating this iiile. ft is now announced
hat In the future no excuses will be
accepted regarding violation of It.

east bound Hnllsttad coal and freight
englnemen will cut fiom their trains
before crossing tho Delaware and Hud
sou rullioml at IilnBhamton, got water
at the round house and return to their
trains.
In tho meanwhile the conductors
will go to tho "I. D." ofllce, get their
indciH, then get the Erie crossing sig
nal and telephone to the Delaware
and Hudson tovvermen for their trains
to proceed. This s done to avoid
blocking the Dcluwuru and Hudson and
Krle crossing and the east end of the
JV. O. yatd.

Tho Dickson Manufacturing com
pany has tecolved n very largo order
for locomutlves from a prominent Pittg
burg concern. Over twenty small en
gines were ordeted nnd work on litem
has been carried on In a most eiit'ieoUu
nnd business like manner.
A number have already been com
pleted and are to be soon shipped uml
several others are In the course of con
struction. Bakery Being Enlarged.
The Lackawanna Steam Bakery com
pany Is engaged In additions and alter
ations to Its plant which will nearly
triple Its capacity. Tho present eight
pan oven, which bakes thlrty-tlvu bar
rels of flour a day, Is to be augmented
by a twelve-pan oven, which will take
sixty barrels a day. A new holler and
engine houne Is being erected and $10,
uuii worth of n.w machinery added.
The enlargement of the bakery
means the employment of 110 hands,
as against sixty now employed.

Central Iiallroad of XeW Jersey, has is

conductors on the Lehigh nnd Susque
hanna division in lepoiting car num
bers to the supeilntendent of car ser
vice for November.
ft Is likely that the special car at
tins Delaware. Lackawanna and West
ern station, which has been fitted up as
a place for the examination and hear
ing of Lackawanna employes, will bo
kept busy for several days yet. Dr. U.
D. Murray, who is In charge has exam
iner over one hundred men so far, but
theio are about eleven hundred In all
employed on the Scranton division and
evei'y one of these must be examined.
CHANGE OF SCHEDULE.
Time Table That Will Go Into Effect
on Providence Line.
A chance of schedule on the fiovl
dence and Carbondalo line will go into
effect .Monday. December 1", 1000. The
service to Providence square will be
every seven and one-half minutes, with
fifteen minutes to Marvin crossing.
Cars will leave Penn and Lackawanna
avenues as follows: .07, Market street:

Carbondalo; .37, Market street; .45.
Providence; .52, Maiket street: .tiO.

Cars with Market street signs run to

runs to Olyphnnt; first car for Peek
ville, 5.S0 a. m. In-bound, first cat
leaves Marvin crossing nt 5.55 a. m.,
and Providence square, 6 a. m.; city

by signs reading "Cars stop here," and
