Exhibit nt Builders Exchange.
One of the rooms or the BultdcrtT ex
rhanue In tliu Board of Trade build
ItiK bus been net nalilo by Socrntarv
LtiudlR for the display of Various of
the building products. Ho ulm at
making tho room u mlnlaturp Bourne,
and to exhibit to the Renernl public
wares In tbe same manner as Is done
by the building trades ot thu laigor
cities.
A brick display has now been com
pleted and prcnents a novel and sulk
ing appearance. It consists ot two
rablnets, one on either side of the en
trance, In which tiro arrayed numerous
kinds of pi ess and glazed bricks. The
two cabinets aro each lltteen feet high
by six wide, and aro divided off Into
compartments, the one of ten and the
other fourteen, In which arc sot tho
bricks nrrayed In the same manner and
fastened hy thu sumo masonry us In
actual construction.
The one display was completed about
(i week ago, and was contributed by
the Eastern Hydraulic l'ress Brick com
pany, of Philadelphia. The bricks uru
mostly of the standard size and ot
sober colors. The other was completed
only Monday and Is the work of O. W.
Ketchum, clny pioducts, of Philadel
phia. This Includes a largo number of sets
ot bricks of the lininnn size, long and
narrow, while the remainder arc stand
ard. Mr. Kclchiim took a great deal
of pains In arranging the display, and
as a result It. Is a very handsome piece
of work. Tho bileks range all the way
from the Iron mottled kind, of which
the new Young Men's Christian asso
I'lation building is to be built, to white
glazed.
One advantugu of this to tho general
public will be that a person thlnklntr
ot doing any building, and In doubt as
to what particular kind of buildng
maleral, bricks for insance, to use, can
go with his architect to the Bulldintr
exchange, look over the display and
then pick out his favorite.
Secretary Lnudlg worked hard to
Fceuro these exhibits and feels de
servedly proud of his success. Ho In
tends continuing to have builders bring
on their wares, and to eventually have
as complete displays of all kinds of
building necessities as Is now had of
brick.
Street Car Men's Union.
Oraanlzer Frederick Dilcher. of the
Vnlted Mine Workers' association, who
yesterday morning banded 'the Scran

union, later In the day telegraphed to
President W D. Mahon, ot the Street
Car Employes' Association of Amctica,
of Detroit, that a local branch of the
national organization had been uer
fected, and an answer to this message
is shortly expected from the national
officer.
One hundred and seventy-one men
were yesterday morning enrolled into
tho union nt the meeting, and all
through the day the secretary was kept
busy puttlng'additional names on his
little book. Permanent officers were
elected at the gathering, but their
names will be kept secret, for a while
at least.
General Manaser Sillinian, of tho
Scranton Railway company, was yes
terday seen by a Tribune man, and de
clared that as yet he had received no
visits from any committees and, in
fact, no official notitication of the for
mation of the organization.
"All that I know about it," he de
clared, "Is what I read today in your
paper. No grievance or any other kind
of committees havo called upon me to
day or recently. I am not aware of
any dissatisfaction among the men, and
know of no existing grievances."

which went through about 4 o'clock,
were both compelled to take on extra
cars.

The Great Annual Book Sale
As usual, each year, with the arrival of Thanksgiving
Day, we start our Annual Book Sale. It is ready now and is
larger and greater this year than ever before. There is no need
for us to elaborate on this book sale. The public knows too
well of the merits of the books we offer to require any argu
ment on our part. The public has grown to look upon Conj
nolly & Wallace sales as events, and our reputation for selling
the best 12 mo. book at a-lower price than any other house in
the business, wili be fully maintained this year.
