Mr. Harrett was one ot the pioneers

M. lj. Barrett removed to Scranton to
conduct a large furniture store there,
nnd James continued lo cater to the
Carbondalo patronage which he enjoyed
nnd which Increased as the years rolled
by. He had great success, and died
possessed of much wealth. In his poli

party ranks, never aspiring to a politi
cal offlce of any kind, notwithstanding
many inducements to accept nomina
tions. Ho was a very public-spit ited
citizen,- however, and identified himself
with a number of plans to progress his
native city. He was an active member

to a breaking down ot his system, due
to his extreme application to business.
The funeral procession will leave his
late residence at 10 a. in. on Monday.
Services will be held at St. Rose
church. After n high mass ot requiem.
Interment will be made in St. Rose

Trouble at the Silk Mill
A report got abioud last evening that
the girls employed at the silk mill of
the Klots Throwing company had gone
on strike. After diligent Inquiry it was
found that the boys employed on tho
night shift had struck for an increase
of wages. The trouble was not adjust
ed and the mill did not work last even
ing. Marcus Frieder, the superintendent,
when asked for a. statement ot the
trouble by a Tiibune man, laughed and
said that such things happened occa
sionally, nnd ulso said that the night
shift would be laid off for a few day
until the boys were willing to return
and that the day force would still con
tinue ut work, as there was no cause
for complaint among tho girls. The
mill employs about 1100 people, and as
work Is slack just at present the loss
of the night t'otce will not Inconveni

"After Buffering for years with catarrhal nnd bronclal trottble,

alent during this month. At the ap
pearance of the slightest symptom of
cold, Peruna should be taken. This
will prevent a long siecje of head
and throat catarrh which may last
all winter and perhaps a lifetime.
"A stitch In time saves nine." One
bott-le of Perunti. Uken at the onset of
caturth Is worth Its weight in gold to
any man or woman. There are no sub
stitutes for Peruna. Peruna has been
Dr. Hartmr.n's only remedy for catarrh
for the last forty .years. '
Address The Peruna Medicine Co.,
Columbus, O., for a free copy of their
