OLYPHANT.
Council met In adjourned session on
Monday evening, with Messrs. Gal
lagher, Gillespie and Foley absent.
The auditors' report was the first mat
ter taken up for consideration, and it
proved to be a very lengthy document.
Over an hour was consumed In reading
It. It was the most complete report
ever made by the borough nudltors.
The report was received, on motion of
Mr. Brown, and then referred to the
finance committee, to investigate a
number of Items the auditors called
attention to. The monthly reports of
the electric light account for the past
six months were then read and ordered
tiled. There being a large list of de
linquent consumers, the same was re
ferred to the light committee to take
some action with regard to compelling
settlement. The much-discussed audi
tors' bills then came up for their ap
proval. They were passed as remitted,
except for an Item of $2.50 for a trip
to Scranton. The secretary was di
rected to make out a duplicate order
in favor of Thomas Williams, to re
place one which has been lost. Mr.
Van Sickle, of the light committee, re
ported that the flooring on the Lacka
wanna street bridge was In a very
dangerous condition, the plunks in
many places having rotted uwuy. He
said that the Blakely council had de
cided to repair their share of the same.
The street committee was empowered
to make the. necessary Improvements
at once. Mr. Brown again brought up
the question of the defects In u few of
the sewer pipes, and that Contractor
Flannlghan had failed to remedy them.
The condition of Delaware stteet was
commented on by Mr. MuMalnes. who
said that since the railway company
had removed their tracks from that
thoroughfare the street 1ms been al
most Impassable. The street commit
teo was instructed to take such uction
as they deemed best with regard to
the Sewer company removing dirt from
the streets. Mr. Heap spoke of the
