That Nolan Bill of Extias Again.
School Board in Session.
G. F. Swlgert cieatcd quite a stir
at last night's school board meeting
by introducing a resolution calling for
a copy of the settlement with Contrac
tor Nolan In the mattei of the bill
of extras. Mr. Swigert t.a!d he under
stood the order had been charged to
le boaid at the bank and that no le
ceipt had been given for it by Mr. No
lan. Also that the cont! actor Intends
to bring suit against the dlstilct for
the remainder of the bill.
In round lumbers the oilglnal bill
was $2,700. Items to the amount of
$700 weie picked out as legitimate nnd
oidered paid. Then considerable time
was spent on the bill and while, ac
coidlng to the contiact, not any of It
Is said to be legal, the boaid decided
to pay Mr. Nolan $1,100 more for all
claims In lull.
Mr. Swigert contends that the only
way to have secured the board was to
get an assignment of the claim, which
was not done.
Mr. Hughes said he got a lecelpt,
but did not hae It with him.
Mr. Swigert wished action on his
resolution defericd until the tecretary
should present the lecelpt, but the
measure was defeated by Messis.

BREAKER BOYS AT SCHOOL.
Secretary Hughes savs: "The
school board will see to It that all of
the miners' children who desire an
education shall have it. If we find
that we haven't looms enough to ac
commodate them all now, we'll hire
more rooms." The occasion of Mr.
Hughes' statement were the repot ts

overcrowding of many of the schools

mine boys enrolling at the dlffeient

Eliza Collins, of California. II,. had
been a lesldent or this boiough foi the

dist Episcopal church and Sunday
school, and was a leading member In

family have the sympathy of the com
munity in their trouble. The funeral

at 3 o'clock In the afternoon, and will
