approaching a degree of perfection In
their work. The piece, which will be
given at the opera house on Septem

Kicked by n Mule Slight Accident
on the Ontario and Western Rail-
road Personal News.
Mr. John Evans, of West Mayfield,
was painfully kicked in the face a few
days ago by a mule. Several of his
teeth were knocked out and his face
cut.
The Citizens' band will give an open
air coneer in front of the Hotel Avery
this evening.
The Arte3lan Hose company have re
cently ordered their new uniforms,
which will be supplied by Henderson
& Company, of Philadelphia. The suits
arc to be a dark brown color, with
brown braid trimmings.
A slight wreck occurred on the On
tario and Western railroad at Mayfield
yesterday morning while the freight
train was branching some cars Into
the beef house switch. A light train
j an into the standing cars, demolishing
n couple of cars loaded with Ice. For
tunately neither of the crews were In
jured. A heavy fog prevailed at the
time, which prevented the coal train
crew from seeing the standing cars.
Mrs. John Solomon, of Main street,
and her sister, Mrs. Secor, of Dunmore,
spent yesterday with friends at Peck
ville. Mr. Philip Raker Is confined to his
home, on Main street, with a severe
attack of cramps.
The borough council will hold their
regular monthly meeting this evening.
Mrs, Lecman Carey, of Scott, Is seri
ously ill.
Dr. A. J. Raker, of Duryea, was In
town yesterday.
James Allen has returned home from
a brief trip to Philadelphia.

night. The funeral will be held this

Mathew opera house, to be known as

ful concert on the lawn of Edward

of Miss Mary Shook to Prank C. Her
riek took place at the Presbyterlin
church on Wednesday evening at 8.30,
the ceremony being performed by Itev.
S. C. Hodge. Miss Sara Hoedley, of
this place, acted as maid of honor, and
the groom was accompanied by I. T.
Kepperly. The ushers were Frank D.
Miller, It. J. Little and Fred C. Shook,
of this place, and W. Ii. Garrison, of
Wilkes-Barre. The bride came down
the aisle of the church on the arm o'
her father nnd was met at the front
of the church by the groom. The ring
service was used. The church was

fire department, was on his wav to
Sayre to participate in the convention
now being held there. It is understood
that Montrose will ask for the conven
tion for the year 1901.
The fair of the Wyoming County
Agricultural society will be held at
their grounds. In Eaton township, two
weeks from this Wednesday, TIiuif
day and Friday. Liberal premiums are

aces give promise of proving very In
teresting. Henry Flummerfelt, of this place, Is
