Interest in The Tribune's
Educational Contest
Continues,
FINDS UNIVERSAL FAVOR
The Names of Contestants Will Soon
Bo Published The Educational Ho
wards Prove Most Attractive Am
bition of the Young Peoplo a Most
Commendable One There Is Work
for All and Pay for All Who Work.
The Hcrnnton Tribune's Educational
Contest, which was inaugurated on
last Thursday, July 5, still continues
to attract great attention throughout
Northeastern Pennsylvania. In fact,
thi' Interest in this contest Is greater
than It was at first, as the merits of
the undertaklnsr are better compre
hended by the public. The offer to the
young1 men and women of this section
is so generous, so Just and fair that It
lias found universal favor everywhere.
As thn contest ltows older the num
ber of names enrolled continues to in
crease. In a few days The Tribune will
publish the names of the participants
in this contest, and as the days go by
anil new workers ate added to their
ranks thoy will also be noticed.
Tribune's Plan Commended.
The various articles explaining the
features of the contest have received
widespread attention by newspaper
readers all over Northeastern Penn
sylvania, nnd as the merits of the spe
cial rewards are becoming thoroughly
understood expressions of hearty com
mendation are universal from people ot
all stations In life. The fairness nnd
Justice of the plan of deciding the win
ners of the special rewards has es
pecially mot with favor, all conceding
that it Is the most meritorious system
of award that has ever been devised,
as It entirely does away with the time-
honored practice of holdlnc back a
hi! Co mass of coupons until the Inst
hour and then giving the award to the
person who can command the most
money. Under the rules of the Edu
cational Contest ull have u fair show,
and by the point system the worker
who has done tho most effective can
vasslnc will bo the person who will
have the, opportunity of making the
first choice of tho ten special rewards.
Educational Eewards.
These special rewards are nil of the
very highest merit and have been se
lected because of their adaptability to
the object The Tribune had In view in
opening this contest. In addition to
increasing Its circulation The Tribune
also wished to adopt a plan whereby
the participant might obtain a prac
tical benefit. With this Idea foremosc
The Tribune decided to place before Its
friends special rewards in the nature
of scholarships in the leading Institu
tions of this section, beside other 10
wardB of great value. As the scholar
ships predominated In point of money
valuation it was decided to call this
competition nti Educational Contest.
The scholarships embrace tuition In
ncndemlo, musical nnd business schools
and are for the education -and prac
tical advancement In learning of yotins
men and women. Ilesldes the scholar
ships there arc special rewards for

those who do not care for these edu
cational advantages or who will not
have time to enter upon them.
A Laudable Ambition.
There are a laige number of young
persons of both sexes who will have
little or nothing to do during the sum
mer months. Among them nre many
students, some of whom have aspira
tions for a more advanced course of
study than Is apparently within their
reach. The Tribune would bo pleased
to have them try this work during their
days of vacation. There Is a great
chance for them in this offer. By ener
getic work they have a very good op
portunity to attain their ambition.
Graduates of the various high schools
throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania
are now ouu'PPed to enter upon their
studies In either tho Wyoming Acad
emy or the Keystone Seminary. These
scholarship rewards should nppeal
strongly to such students and gradu
ates, as they place within their reach
an opportunity to finish their educa
tion absolutely without cost.
Advantage of a Business Education.
Many young people who are unem
ployed look with envious eyes upon
those more fortunate who hold situa
tions, A very essential reason why they
are not receiving a salary Is because
they are not fitted to enter a business
house by reuson of not having a uooa
commercial education, liy taking ad
vantage of the offer of Tho Tribune
they Btand a good chance of obtaining
a scholarship in the Seranton Business
College, one of the very best schooU
for u commercial or shorthand educa
tion In the country. After u thorough
preparation in this college tho student
Is helped to secure a situation, nnd
mony of Its graduates are now cm
ployed In this city and elsewhere.
There Is no excuse for any person to
be without work In this section of the
state this summer. IOvcn If a partici
pant does not share In the special re
wnrds he can make a good commission
by canvassing for The Tribune, being
paid at the rate of 10 per cent, for ail
cash subscriptions. Kach and every ono
of the contestants will be compensated
in accordance with the profits of his
labor.

Beware of Ointments for Catarrh
That Contain Mercury.
as mercury will surely destroy the sense of smell
and completely derange the whole system when
entering it through the mucous rurfaces. Such
articles should never be used except on pre
scriptions from reputable pbslelans, as the
damage they will do is ten fold to Ihe good you
can possibly derive from them. Hall's Catarrh
Cure, manufactured by P. J. Cheney k Co.,
Toledo, O., contains no mercury, and Is taken
