A hearing In the case of Detective
Ike Seldman against the owneis of the
slot machines, known ns the "Owl,"
which Is In a gicat many hotels in
tho central cit.v, was scheduled for 2
o'clock jesterdaj afternoon In the of
fice of Alderman John L.'rtes, of the
South Side. It did not take place,
howevei, owing to the fact that Wed
nesday night Seldman appealed In tl"
I office, togethei with MarMn Clark, of
l'rovilnnce, who owns the mat Mines,
and wlthdiew the charges preferred.
Prior to this, however, another ma
chine was confiscated by the detective!
and his cohoits, this time in Eelvvurtl
Horn's hotel on Franklin uvenue.
Seldman had the costs In the cae
put on him, and paid $12 25, which
was the total amount. Yesteiday tho
machines were taken back to a num
ber of places Altogether seven vvar
lants had been Issued and seven ma
chines confiscated Among the places
