Susquehanna, Dec. 20. There came
to us the evidently true utory of
Tommy lUllnrd and his tooth. Some
llttlo time afro Tommy began to be af
fected with acute toothache, but, as
all of hla teetli were apparently sound,
no local cause could be found by liU
parents or friends. HpIiik too poor to
secure medical attention, he was forced
to bear the pain with what fortitude ho
could. Finally his gums began to
swell on the outer side, and this grew
worse until one ninrnliiK he awoku
to Unci the pain and soreness sotie. and
that ho had an almost duplicate set of
teeth Browing on the outside of both
the top and bottom set of natural
ones. At ttrst this did not interfere
with him, but later It was found that
his speech was beginning to get Im
perfect. An examination revealed the
fact that the new teeth were growing
to an abnormal size, while, In propor
tion ns they Increased, his physical
Btrength decreased.
Tommy was taken to a specialist,
who decided to extract a number of the
teeth. This was done, but almost as
fast as they were taken out, new ones
grew In other places until almost thn
entire roof of the patient's mouth had
been taken up by his peculiar ailment.
Altogether, eighteen teeth have been
extracted, and recently it has been
noticed that the growth of further
teeth has stopp' d. Hut meanwhile
the extraction of his teetli has ceased.
It Is thought to be a peculiar form of
ossification, and It Is supposed to have
nn hereditary healing, the lads grand
father being described as a peculiarly
"double-Jointed man, of unusual
Btrength."

A party of boys composed chiefly of
members of the school, thinking that
the cold weather which we had on
Thursday and Friday was sufllclcnt to
freeze the small ponds, decided to go
skating. They had not been on tho Ice
very long before one of their number,
Robert Evuns, who Is a member of the
Sophomore class ventured too near the
thin ice. It broke and participated him
Into the cold water. The pond, not
being very deep, he escaped with a
wetting.
The school paper, "Impressions," will
be on sale today at the close of the
session. This Is the Christmas edition
and will contain many Interesting
stories and useful Information con
cerning the school. It will also contain
a picture of last year's foot ball team,
which was taken before the game with
the Wllllamsport High school.
The matter of organizing a glee club
made up of singers from tho school Is
assuming shape. Some of the students
Interested are endeavoring to pick six
teen of the best mule voices In tho
school. This club will, no doubt, b
a great success as there are many fine
voices among the boys.
Tho meeting which was held last Fri
day Is causing considerable discussion
among the pupils, especially the boys.
Therefore this very unpleasant affair,
which has already been the means of
placing some of the students In a very
embarrassing position, should be laid
aside and forever forgotten.
Yesterday the Sophomore classical
met with a great surprise as they en
tered upon the usual Greek recitation.
Instead of the lessons which had been
assigned they faced a quite difficult ex
amination. Although taken completely
unawares the pupils made a good
showing.
There Is a Christmas present that
every pupil below the average of seven
ty Is sure of receiving and that Is the
regular monthly notice which Is sent
home by mall. They will be sent to the
respective homes on Friday of this
week.
The lessons In some of the classes
Monday were not up to the average and
as a result many of the students had a
very late dinner. The lessons of Tues
day, although not as good as might be,
were an improvement on Monday's.
Of all the classes which have musle
with Prof. Derman on Monday, the
class at the fourth period, according to
Prof. Derman, has some of the finest
tenors to be found In the school.
The faculty held their regular meet
ing Monday In the bfllce of the princi
pal. The routine of school work for the
coming months was discussed by the
teacher s.
The rain which continued for the
greater part of yesterday, had little or
no effect on the attendance, but it kept
the bovs from their usual outdoor ex
ercise, A meeting of the senior class was
held yesterday at the close of the
session, and a class pin was at last
decided upon.
Throe more days and school will be
closed until after the holidays. Friday
Is anxiously awaited.
