TROUBLE IN WATER CAMP.
Opposition to a "Roving Commis
sion" More Tax Payers Wanted.
Already discord has developed In the
water camps of the committee. H. H.
Jadwln Is quoted as saying: "As my
lews do not harmonize with those ot
the other members I shall attend no
more of these meetings "
This Is unfortunate. Mr J.idwln
evinced ftom the start utr interest in
nnd mental grasp of the sltuutlo.i,
which the movement can ill afford to
lose. Ho speaks wisely when he say.s
"the usefulness of the executive com
mittee' could he Improved by the ad
dition of si few taxpayers."
He ousht to ue Btrongly suppoit"d
In his opposition to a loving commis
sion. The Rtutus of affairs does not
tall foi nny roving commission. Kx
perlence with roving commissions Is
generally unsatisfactory, ns it seldom
results In anything more than an en
joyable tour ot the lovers at the c;
pnse of the taxpayers
Mi Jadwln believes with the Review
that councils s'rould not he Ignored in
this rn, ttet As to counsel: We have
seveial able, honest lavvyein in this
city who can safely be trusted with
this important case and who knew
much better than the committee where
to look for reliable legal assistance.
Now, regarding municipal water:
That is for the people to decide after
the lawyers "how the way. Certnln
It is that Mr Jadwin's suggestion to
prosecute the Consolidated for reduc
tion of ratey- promises some relief nnd
should be acted upon regardless of
subsequent steps.
It will take time nt best to secure
municipal water and consumers need
h"li In the interim.
Let the entire committee of one hun
dred get together nt once nnd see that
this project is conducted on practical,
economic and safe lines

The Sterriek Creek colliery, owned
by the Temple Coal and Iron company,
and located just north of the Delaware
and Hudson Peckville depot, was the
scene of much excitement yesterday
afternoon. A Iluugaiinn not veiy
well versed In the e-are of bollets was
the cause. There are three sets of
hollers at the boiler house and the
Hungarian let the water get low. Fore
man Blown werrt to the boiler house
to ascertain the reason of tho stoatfi
getting low. I'pon his uirlval there
he noticed at n glance that there was
something wiorrg. The Hun was
about to stnrt the Injector working
to put water In the boiler when Brown
stopped him. It wns a lucky thing
that he did or the boilers would have
exploded like giant powder for there
was hardly a drop of water in them.
Brown quickly realized the situation
and shouted for every one to run for
their lives. This they did with the
exception of one employe whose name
could not be ascertained. He sta.ved
and quickly pulled the flies from un
der the boilers und dumped them off
as soon ns it was practicable. The
bolleis were examined and some of the
Hues weie burned completely off and
the whole of them ruined. The en
tire plant was obliged to close down
and will remain so for an indefinite
period until new boilers can be pro
cured to replace those mined.
