largo stone fell on him, cutting a deep
gash over his eye. Ho was driven to

Thomas Coync.of Twenty-flrst street,
n minor employed In the Continental,
suffered a pauilytlc stroke while at
work yesterday morning, Ho was re
moved to his home, where he lies In a

John H Burgess, of Cedar avenue,
was ai rested on a wan ant Issued by
Aldetmau Ruddy jesteiday at the In
stance ot Mis. Ann Crane, of Pear
street, who alleges the defendant has
a cow in his possession of which she
Is the ow ner. The cow is tho ono
that has caused much damage to Mr.
Burgess and his neighbors by enter
ing their gat dens and making n feast
of their pioduct.
Mr. Burgess laid In wait for the
cow it-cently and impounded her. He
will not lelease hero until he Is com
pensated for the damage he sustained,
which Mrs. Crane lefused to do. Bur
gess wnlved a hearing and gave ball
for his appearance at court.

An inquest Into the death of James
r. Francis, whose body was found
hanging from a tiee In a lonely woods
above Nay Aug Patk on Sunday as
detailed In yesterday morning's Tri
bune, was held last evening In the ar
bitration room of the court house.
Only two witnesses were examined,
Henry Pilger and Flora Llsk, the two
young men who found the body. They
testllled that they came across the
body accidentally and that they bad
been greatly f lightened The coi one
said that theie was hardly any doubt
but that Mr. Ftancls was suffering
ftom temporary mental aberration
when he took his life
The Jurors after consulting for a
short time agreed upon the following
verdict: We the undersigned Jurois,
empanelled to investigate Into th
death of James E Francis, agree that
he took his own life by hanging In the
woods known as Snook's addition, near
the Elmhiirst boulevard, between the
7th and 10th clays of September. 1S91.
