THE MARKETS.
Wall Street Review.
By Carrlngton & Cusack.
New York, July 7. The market
opened strong and Higher, especially In
Manhattan, New York Central, Penn
sylvania nnd the Coaler?, Tho llrm
ness In Pennsylvania and New York
Central Is attributed to rumors of an
Important arrangement between these
lines likely to result greatly to mutual
profits of both lines. The Grangers
again showed great strength nnd mado
ndvnnces. Atchison preferred was par
ticularly strong, maklnp an advance, of
about two points for the day.
We are told by good authority that
tho Tobacco stocks are booked for a
decided advance and that Continental
Tobacco will sell again the sixties In
a short time.
Tennessee Coal nnd Iron is the
strongest stock on the market In the
Industrial list. It made a sensational
advance today on the report that peo
ple Identified with the Hanover bank
are buying It freely, and that Import
ant developments ure ponding that will
benefit tho property.
The break after the opening was
caused by selling of houses with west
ern connection, but the market took
all their stocks and steadily ndvanced,
closing at about high point of the day.
