CI T Successor to Bronson & Tallman, Wen's Furnishers and Hatters. THE MARKETS. Wall Street Review. By Cnrrlngton & Cusack. New York, July C Tho market opened nt nbout last night's close ana durlnt; tho first hour thero was con siderable realizing In the railroad stocks by Homo of the most conspicu ous buyers or the last few days. The Industrials showed more anima tion and was higher on general buy ing throughout the list, a good many Bhortscovcrlntr on the advance. Sugar was particularly strong on tho weakness In raw sugars and tho main tenance of the prices of tho refined, which insured a larger prollt to tho trust, nnd which also served to indi cate that an agreement exists with in dependent rcilnerlcs. London was quite a free buyer of its specialties, and thero was some com mission buying which was offset, how ever, to a considerable extent by re alizing sales by the traders. Atchison preferred nnd the coal stocks were the chief features ot strength In tho railroad lists. Brook lyn Rapid Transit opened strong, but subsequently sold off. The announcement that J. P. Mor gan & Co. had undertaken the refund ing of the Mexican national debt, had a pretty good effect on the street, It being our llrst International transac tion of this kind, and Indicating tho stiength of our ruslllon umong the na tions of the woild from a banking point of view. Continental Tobacco nnd American Tobacco weie both partlculaily strong1 on good inside bujing, and wo arc told that both are In for a shaip up turn. The market after 1 o clock became dull, but was fairly strong through out tho day. The early selling by the tradeis and some short selling was used to depress prices and to check the advance. In these weak spots the market still looks a purchase to us. Tho close was somewhat Irregular, but with a strong undertone.
