ELM PARK CHAUTAUQUA.
Tine Piogramme Was Rendeied at
Last Night's Meeting.
The Rhn Paik Chautauqua circle h.id
a fine programme last evening and was
ver hiiRolv attended, many visitors
being present. Mis. C. M. Gltlin gave
a clever review of one ol the books of
the course, "Mn and Manners," and
Miss Wagonhurst followed with an In
teresting paper on the poets fiom
Chaucer to Tennyson. Mrs. F.dlth
Heckel sang two beautiful solos. This
portion of the progiamnie was under
the dliection of Miss Ruth Dale.
Mr. Yocuni gave In his own biilllant
style a paper on "The Iilsh Question,"
dealing with the problems connected
with Homo Rule. He gave a brief his
tory of the snuggles of the Iilsh peo
ple and a graphic descilptlon of the
piesent situation. In his view the chief
idea is to gain the land by Home Rule
und not that the people are so dis
satisfied vvlth their Government as It
now exists. His summniy of the ques
tion was rather against Homo Rule.
G F. Reynolds unnounced that next
week tin excellent piogramme will no
presented which will include a debate,
subject: "Resolved, That Handel with
his Messiah has done moie to elevate
the thouuht of the world than Milton
with his Paradise Lost"

the year. If you will come in and see the bargains we offer
