Happiness Along tho Gravity Thoso Who Have Joiood tho Silont Ma jorityFete Crandall Lassoes an Owl Frozon Notes on tho Summer Resorts About Old Susquohnnna County. Bjieclal to tho Scranton Tribune. Susquehanna, Jan. 10. Anont the recent statement of the Waymart cor respondent of the Hancock Herald, that tho Erie was preparing to remove a portion of Its Susquehanna and Port Jervls shops to Waymart, the Great Bend I'lalndcaler felicitously remarks: "It probably means that Susque hanna, together with the shops and shirt factory, will be removed to Way mart and become a part and portion of Waymart. We phnll all feet badly to lose Susquehanna, but still It would be too bad to have Waymart people disap pointed, so let 'er so. There was a time before the advent of free bridges, milk routes and the introduction of elec tricity that Susquehanna was an equal of Great Hend. but soon after the dis aster playlnR for the county champion ship In the busobnll field tho town be pnn to gravitate towards the Gravity. Kor a time the ehlrt factory with n promise of a clean shirt once a forl nlKht, Old Hcvm to Etay the Impending loom, but, alas, now nil Is lot. AVo extend congratulations to the half dozen citizens of Waymart." Comment appears to be unnecessary. Susquehanna Is willing to make any Kort of a rncrlllee. If It will add to the )uipplnest and general betterment of the "half dozen citizens of Wnymart" aloroBiild. AVAYSIDE ETCHINGS. Looking heavenward Is always a de lightful diversion. Honesdale Indepen dent. Practice "looking heavenward," wicked Ilre'r Haines! It will keep you out of a lot of mischief. In time vou will know less about hosiery and much more about heaven. Thcf act that the Gravity mad Is to be partly continued nl least tor a time makes thousands of people hap pier. There will be several weddings In Susquehanna this week. Confidence Is evidently restored. Several Susquehanna county states men have been In Harrlsburg during the week, superintending the election of a United States senator. JOINED Till: MAJORITY. The young man who enlisted In three Sunday schools Just before Christmas, has already quit two of them. Even the most absent-minded man generally remembers to stop short of the division line between his own and his neighbor's sidewalk, when ho is shoveling off tho walk. The few people who nowadays sigh for a "return of the good old days," ought to take a weekly stage ride be tween Carbondale and Honesdale. It Is not correct to say or write Rev. Swift or Rev. Rone. You would not say Hon. Norton or Hon. Thompson. All titles belong In one or the other of two classes of parts of speech. Hones dale Independent. Right you are! And It Is not the correct thing to wrlto "Mrs. General," "Mrs. Doctor." etc., unless the woman is a general or a doctor, etc. Why use "groom" for "bridegroom?" Grooms take care of horses; bride grooms get married. An observer of things, noting tho number of women recently arrested for sending iolsoned candy through the mnlls, remarks that so far no woman has been punished for the brand of cigars she presented to her husband openly and above board on Christmas. The man who shoots his girl to mako her love him, and tho girl who throws vitro! In her lover's face for the sanies purpose, should marry him and have it out with one another. Whitney. " The Ragged Earl." Thero is little question ot the pop ular npproval which will groet An drew Muck, tho singing comedian, when he makes his appearance In this city on Saturday afternoon and evening at tho Lyceum In a now romantic jiluy of life In Ireland, entitled "Tho Ragged Karl," and it Is fair to predict for him a crowded house. II r. Mack's mana gers, Rico and Harris, havo given him surroundlnpa to which his cleverness and poiiulnrltw Justly entitle him; and his new play Is said to provide him with a stur part which fits llko the tra ditional glove. It Is a delightful blend ing of wit, humor nnd sentiment, a genuine Irish type. In addition to tho lighter iiuulltles of tho role, "Tho Rag ger Earl" furnishes several powerful dramatic situations In which Mr. Mack Is said to shluo to excellent advantage. RUIIY UIP.S.
