Two Pointed Questions Answered.
What Is the use of making i better
aitlclo than join competitor if you
con not get n better pi Ice for it?
Ans As thete Is no difference In
the price the public will buy only
the better, to that while our profits,
may be smaller on a single sale they
will be much greater In the aggie

jour make Is the best?
If both ai tides are hi ought promin

On Thursday evening Thistle lodge

point of numbers and tho Interesting
progiumme that wus thoroughly en

an off-shoot of old Gohotita, but has

ELECTRIC HEATING.
Sorao Modern Uses to Which the
Current Is Put.
From the Philadelphia Record.
Hlectiic heating, Instead of having
sunk Into lnocuous desuetude as many
have imagined, Is really thilving and
new applications nio being constant
ly discovered. Its use in the house
hold, It is true, has not proved as ex
tensive as one was led to bellevo it
would be, but the more conservative
assertions that there was a special field
for apparatus of this character have
been amply borne out by experience.
For minor heating purposes In apart
ment houses, hotels nnd private lesl
dences possessing elect! lc light service
thero is now a steady demand for a
large' number of appliances. In com
meiclul work Its uso for electric weld
ing has developed Into a distinct nnd
thriving Industry, and the manufact
ure of electric heaters for trolley cars
and automobiles keeps teveral large
companies busy.
Among the newest applications may
be mentioned Its use for the heating
of bakers' ovens and lor the preven
tion of the sweating of glass (show
windows. At Niagara Falls and Buf
falo almost every manufacturing con
cern has adopted electric power, gen
erated by tho Ningara Falls plant, nnd
consequently sold nt compaiatlvely low
rates. Among other new converts to
elect! lc power In Buffalo Is a laige
baking concern, mentioned ns seriously
contemplating the substitution of elec
tilc ovens for their present ones; In
deed, It is unnounted that contiacts
have nlieady been entered Into for tho
installation of such a plant. It Is point
ed out that by using their heat Inter
mittently the advantage of a source of
heat that could bo controlled at will,
instantly turneu on or otf, and regu
lated for any tempeiature desired, will
outweigh any disadvantage there might
be in the matter of greuter cost ot
opeiatlon. Now that the winter sea
son Is here again and more attention
than than ever Is given to window dis
plays, the use of electric heuters for
pi eventing condensation on the glass
windows Is atractlng attention. The
scheme of operating an electric fan In
tho show windows to irevent sweaUng
has already proved a piactlcal sucess,
hut theio aro many cases lu which a
lunnlng fun Is objectionable, not being
In keeping with tho display. As almost
every store Is now provided with elee
tile light service and electilc light
heutels can be purchased In ull sizes
on the open matket, the Intel eut In
this new application of electrical heat
ing Is universal. All that Is necessuiv
Is to place a small electric heater In
the window In uny cuuceuled position
and to connect It with tho lighting
mains. The expense of operation would
not be very great nnd tho great nui
sance of sweating windows would bo
entirely ovorcome.
