THE MARKETS.
Wall Stieet Review.
New York, Oct. 28 The stock mar
ket took on today many of the char
aeteiistlcs of a bull campaign In full
force. liusiness was large nnd execed
ingl well distributed, many of the
usually Inactive stocks being brought
forvvaid Into the movement when the
maiket was much less dominated by
the specialties which, however, con
tinued very nctlvo, especially Sugar
and Tobacco. The former stock was
less violent In its fluctuations than on
yesteiday, and although it advanced
several times, it met more stock than
It could cauv. It ended the day un
changed. Tobacco, on the other hand,
alter a factional decline, surged stiong
ly upwards, the extreme rise being
neatly 5 points. The rise was coupled
with tumors of the flotation of the new
plug tobacco company and the taking
In of many latge competltots In that
field. Another conspicuous movement
was that In the lion and steel stocks,
which were led by the dealings In the
secuilties of the new Federal Steel
company when lsued. Total sales of
stocks were 379.S0O shaies.
