THE MOZART'S BENEFIT.
I'lfo Nights f Opera nt tho Ormid
This Week.
Intel est In the opra "Mikado" which
Is to be produced at the opera houe
this weok by amateur tnlent Is now
assuming ptopurtlons that gtiainntees
crowded houses for each perfoi mance.
The envt Is made up of our best known
und most experienced stage singers nnd
the chorus is one of such volume and
vocal excellence as Is seldom heatd in
any city.
The opein Is one of the brightest both
In score and dialogue of thoo noteil
composers, Ollbett und Sullivan. Tho
lostumlng is picturesque and every
thing will be done to make the pro
duction perfect. It Is for the benefit of
the Mozart band, an organization that
has done much to the credit of tlto city
nnd to the delight of each ot our resi
dents They appreciate the efforts of
the band and will show their apprecia
tion by a liberal patronage of the
opeia.
It requires a considerable sum to
Keep a band alive and the proceeds of
the present ventuie will, It Is to be
hoped, enable the Mozarts to supply
themselves with a much needed equip
ment of new music The opera will he
given on Fiiday nnd Saturday nights,
with Saturday matinee. The first re
hearsal on the stage with full orchestra
accompaniment will be this evening.

Kvery man you see in Minnesota In

very well He asked me vvlitn I went
In where my gun was, and I had to
apologize for not having It. I forgot
the custom. Then I asked him If there
uas any apprehension about train rob

thought he must have Jeiked the loco
motive fiom the Hack. The train came
to a stand ns quickly as was possible,
and the coiuluctoi, seizing a shotgun

the car and told 1110 to follow. As I

baggageman, and the engineer on the
ground. I'veiy one of them had a shot

Suddenly there was a noise. A flock

been a hundred lose In the air. At
the same instant the air was blue with
smoke and scented with powder. Eighty
dead pialrle chickens ueie found, but
the conductor assured 1110 that the
whole Hock had been killed, and that
some had piobably chopped In the
brush.
'The hunt fiom the time the bell

less than foity minutes. I noticed that
the tinln dispatcher got his share ot
